Google Rolls Out Android 15 with Major Security Enhancements and Features
Published on:Β

Google has officially started rolling out Android 15 updates for Pixel devices, bringing with it a host of improvements and new features. The latest version places a strong emphasis on security, introducing advanced measures to protect sensitive financial, health, and personal data from potential threats like fraud and theft.

Additionally, Android 15 is set to deliver substantial updates for large-screen devices, enhancing the user experience across key apps such as the camera, passkeys, and messaging. This release promises to refine both the functionality and security of the Android ecosystem.

Security Features

This innovative feature leverages AI for data safety. If a device is snatched or stolen while someone is biking, running, or driving away, it will automatically lock itself. Another feature, Remote Lock, enables the owner to secure the device remotely using other devices linked to their number, along with a simple security verification process. These security measures are available for Android 10 and newer devices.

Additionally, the authentication requirements have been strengthened to deter thieves by disabling the Find My Device feature, removing the SIM card, and locking the device after detecting multiple unsuccessful unlock attempts. This makes stealing and selling a device difficult.

Keeps Sensitive Apps Hidden

The provision of creating a separate private space is introduced in this update. Here, organizing sensitive apps like Banking. Accessing this separate private space requires an additional layer of authentication, once it is locked and invisible from the app list, notifications, recent app view, and settings.

For Foldables And Tablets

The latest update enhances app accessibility, making it easier to brainstorm or compose emails. Pinning or unpinning the taskbar on the screen has been simplified, allowing for quick access to frequently used apps like Gmail or Google Photos, thereby improving productivity. App pairing provides a convenient shortcut for streamlined multitasking; for example, you can open two apps, such as Gmail and Google Drive, simultaneously and easily drag and drop files between them. With just a tap, you can quickly access these apps in split-screen mode for faster retrieval.

Secure Login, Camera And More…

Several new updates have been launched to improve messaging, cameras, and passwords. Some of them are given here:

  • In-app camera controls and Low Light Boost have improved functionality in low-light conditions. Additionally, third-party apps now offer enhanced camera control, including more precise flash adjustments.

  • Carrier messaging applications can leverage satellite connectivity to transmit and receive messages without relying on a mobile network or Wi-Fi.

  • In apps that employ Passkeys for authentication, users can log in effortlessly with a simple tap.
